2011 Scion tC Introduced at New York Auto Show

Wednesday saw the introduction of 2011 Scion tC at New York Auto Show.

The last tC model came 6 years ago and it was the only under $20,000 car that was high on styling and performance. But with time, it has definitely aged, so Scion has come up with a new sportier version for the young at heart.

The Scion tC 2011 model will be available at dealers this fall. Scion’s vice president, Jack Hollis talking about Toyota’s youth division said, “Scion has always been a lab for trying new ideas and methods,” adding that tC is a youth oriented car.

Of course it is understandable that in the present dwindling state of the economy, Toyota is counting on tC to revive its sales as it constitutes almost half of scion sales.

Lets do a Scion tC 2011 review vis a vis features: 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with dual variable valve timing makes 180 horsepower, which is 19 more than the outgoing model. Two 6-speed transmissions, including a sequential automatic that replaces the wan 4-speed of the present model.

Scion also talks of sportier suspension tuning and better steering feel, with the addition of an electric steering unit. Standard stability control and eight air bags are there too.

The car is definitely high on looks with its 18-inch alloy wheels, extroverted interior and bolstered sports seats. 2011 Scion tC price starts at $17,100.
