Zynga Expected To Launch Social Gaming Site ZLive, Facebook Zynga Alliance Might End
Zynga, the online game developer of games like Farmville and Scramble, may be looking to end its association with Facebook, the company's primary platform partner.
Zynga, which has developed some of the most popular Facebook apps, is planning to split up from Facebook to launch its own social gaming network called Zynga Live.
Four of Zynga apps are currently in the top ten. Farmville is number one, Café World is at number six, while Mafia Wars and Petville are at eight and nine position respectively.
Zynga is also associated with MySpace, MSN, My Yahoo, and the iPhone and makes games for them. According to an unnamed Techcrunch source's e-mail, Zynga CEO Mark Pincus announced the plan to launch Zynga Live and the souring of relations with Facebook.
"Pincus announced at a 5pm meeting yesterday at Zynga that Zynga was going to launch a social game network called Zynga Live. Facebook and Zynga has been negotiating on Facebook Credits and the talks turned for the worst. In the negotiation process, Facebook shut off Zynga's feeds and threatened to shut down games. Zynga in the process threatened to completely leave Facebook and prepared to do so in the previous upcoming weeks," said the email.
Techcrunch sources added that Facebook is trying to ink a deal with Zynga, where the latter agrees to remain on Facebook as their primary games platform. But talks are not going well. Meanwhile, CNET's Daniel Terdiman noted that it is highly unlikely that either Zynga or Facebook will break their successful relationship.
