Warren Sapp Cleared off Domestic Battery Charge
Former NFL superstar Warren Sapp will not be tried for criminal offenses, prosecutors have said. He had been arrested in South Florida for allegedly beating a woman during the Super Bowl weekend.
The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office has declared "the State cannot file charges ... due to the totality of the evidence and inconsistencies with the victim testimony and the physical evidence gathered during the investigation."
Earlier, the woman had alleged that Sapp had behaved violently with her in a Miami Beach hotel room on 6 February because he wanted her to leave. She accused Sapp of forcefully pushing her during an argument, following which, she fell on her leg, because of which she experienced ``excruciating pain.'' She said after the incident she limped out of the hotel. However, according to witnesses and hotel CCTV, she was ``walking in high heeled stilettos, and acting in a jovial manner.''
He was arrested thereafter on battery charge. However, officials say that due to inconsistency in the alleged victim’s testimony, they cannot prosecute Sapp.
Sapp’s attorney Christopher Lyons said, “From the beginning, Mr. Sapp was always confident in the system and that he would be cleared of any wrongdoing.”
Sapp is a former University of Miami star who has played with the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his 13-year-long NFL career.
That closes the Warren Sapp Domestic Battery Charge chapter.
