Vice President Joe Biden's Son Beau Biden Hospitalized After Suffering a Stroke, Condition Stable
Vice President Joe Biden's eldest son, Beau Biden, Delaware Attorney General, was admitted to Christiana Hospital in Newark after he had a mild stroke yesterday.
He was later transferred Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for observation and further tests.
His doctor says his condition is stable now and is expected to recover soon. “He is in good spirits and talking with his family at the hospital,’’ Dr. Timothy Gardner of Christiana Hospital said in a statement issued through the White House. “He is fully alert, in stable condition, and has full motor and speech skills.’’
Jason Millner, Biden junior’s spokesman, refused to comment as he had nothing to add to the reports at the moment. The Vice President's office also made it clear that Gardner would make no further comments beyond the statement released to the press and would not entertain any questions either.
Beau Biden was to deliver a speech speech last night at the University of Delaware. He was deployed in Iraq with his Army National Guard unit and had returned to America last year. He served as a captain and military lawyer in the 261st Theater Tactical Signal Brigade.
He earlier planned to contest for the Senate seat his father held before becoming vice president but instead decided to run for reelection as attorney general.
Beau Biden has also worked with the Justice Department between 1995 and 1997 and as an assistant US attorney from 1997 to 2002. He is married and father of two children.
