Sony PS3 Game Console Going 3D Coinciding With Sony Bravia LCD TV Launch
Electronics giant Sony is planning to release a firmware update for its PS3 gaming console which will give the console 3D capability.
This also coincides with the company’s launch of 3D enabled Bravia LCD TV this summer.
The console will need two firmware updates to convert into stereoscopic 3D capable games platform. It will also support 3D blu ray. The first update in June will make it ready for 3d gaming in June while games enthusiasts will have to wait till the end of 2010 to make it 3D blu ray capable.
Sony is scheduled to release four 3D games for the PS3 in conjunction with the firmware update; Wipeout HD, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, PAIN and Super Stardust HD.
While the company is already into display technology, it is now looking to consolidate its hold on the 3D market much of which depends on the success of 3D content and its availability.
It is also learnt that the 3D PSN games will be bundled with its newly launched HX803 Bravia television. Its UK 3DTV will also come with 3D Blu ray films.
A sony release said, ” "Built upon Sony's very latest 200Hz high frame rate technology that allows viewers to see 3D in full High Definition 1080p fidelity, the High Definition 3D image is further enhanced with the inclusion of 'High Speed Precision, 'LED Boost' and '3D up conversion', three technologies unique to Sony and designed to make the 3D image even clearer and brighter and the 3D experience even more exciting," the market is still waiting to hear from Sony on the price range of the new product.
