Champions League Final 2010: This is the flag off for some of the big names of soccer and also some big soccer matches. Some of the very big names are though missing even as Inter Milan plays Bayern Munich.
Inter’s tryst with the final was happened after eliminating Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard along with the Premier League winner Chelsea. ManU, led by Wayne Rooney on the other hand was beaten by Bayern Munich in the quarter finals. Arjen Robben made a winning strike in the match.
This has meant that there are still quite a few players who will also have a significant role to play in the World Cup. Playing for Inter is Julio Cesar, considered by many as the best keeper in the world today.
The team also has Brazilian defenders Maicon and Lucio. Some of the other players include Dejan Stankovic, Wesley Sneijder, Deigo Milito.
Missing from the Bayern Munich line up is Franck Ribery who is suspended. The midfield will be dependant on Robben and Mark van Bommel.
Germany in the meanwhile has lost midfielder Michael Ballack due an ankle injury which will also keep him out of the world cup. His injury was the result of a reckless tackle by Kevin Prince Boateng.
Ballack, like many other greats has a great pull effect amongst German soccer fans. Some even feel that his experience of the previous world cups cannot be replaced. However, there are others who think that he is over rated.
Jose Mourinho, the highly respected Inter Milan coach has said, "This is the most important game in the world. Even bigger than the World Cup, because the teams are at a higher level than national teams, who can't buy the best players."
He however got into a feud with a fan Steve Nash who heavily criticized Jose’s ultra defensive strategy after a send off of one of Inter Milan’s players. The two however, has reportedly patched up as well.
The other player to be missed in the world cup will be Andrei Arshavin.
