Simon Gagne Scripts Philadelphia Flyers Stunning Win Over Boston Bruins
The Philadelphia Flyers rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Boston Bruins 4-3 yesterday.
Simon Gagne scored on a power play to help his side score an important win. With this win, the Flyers secured a place in the the Eastern Conference finals that seemed a unachievable task for them as they had lost their first three games.
Yesterday’s match must be remembered in history because it was only the third time in NHL history that a team has won a series after losing the first three games.
"When that final buzzer went, it was a sigh of relief," Philadelphia captain Mike Richards said. Flyers, who are currently seeded seventh will start the next round tomorrow against eighth-seeded Montreal. Gagne returned to play in yesterday’s game after remaining out of action for some matches due to a toe injury.
He scored with 18 seconds left in a power play after the Bruins were penalized for putting too many players on the ice. Gagne received the puck after it bounced off Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask. Gagne made full use of the opportunity to put the puck behind Rask’s right shoulder.
