Scientific Consensus makes Vaccines Court Reject Mercury-Autism Link

Scientific research has proved that Mercury containing preservative Thimerosal does not cause Autism. This is much to the disappointment of Parents who think otherwise.

The Federal vaccines court ruled this finding after scientific consensus was build on the issue. Earlier, 13 months ago, the court had ruled that measles-mumps-rubella vaccine commonly known as MMR vaccine and Thimerosal does not cause Autism. The new ruling is a reiteration of the fact that was a proved litigation. The earlier decision was also challenged in the court and it is expected that this time too this decision will be challenged in the court.

Now, the grieved parents have taken back a claim that the MMR vaccine causes Autism. More than 5300 parents had filed claims that this vaccine is ineffective and went to the Federal court of law seeking damages against the vaccinations.
"Find me another industry where the U.S. government defends their product in court and funds the science that exonerates them," said J.B. Handley, a founder of Generation Rescue in Sherman Oaks and father of a child with autism. "The average citizen has no hope."

There were three cases and a single judge judged each one and all the cases were ruled in the favor of the government.
Special Judge Denise K. Vowell declared in one of the decisions that "petitioners propose effects from mercury in vaccines that do not resemble mercury's known effects in the brain, either behaviorally or at the cellular level. To prevail, they must show that the exquisitely small amounts of mercury in vaccines that reach the brain can produce devastating effects that far larger amounts experienced prenatally or postnatally from other sources do not."

Other claims were also dismissed that a particular group of children are susceptible to the effects of mercury. "The only evidence that these children are unusually sensitive is the fact of their autism itself."

In another ruling, George L. Hastings declared: "This case is not a close case. The overall weight of the evidence is overwhelmingly contrary to the petitioners' causation theories."

Parents and other social activists exclaimed that such a decision was in favor of the vaccination program. Mary Holland of the Coalition for Vaccine Safety, an umbrella organization of autism groups says that the court has protected the Vaccine Program.

"I'm sure they sincerely believe they're protecting the public health because they think that if people believed vaccines caused diseases, they would stop vaccinating children," Holland said. "They bend over backwards to not acknowledge vaccine injury.", she adds.

Due to parental fears Thimerosal was taken away from all childhood vaccines from 2001 except for multi-dose vials for influenza vaccines. Despite the action autism has still prevailed.  One out of every 100 child suffers from Autism. The vaccine court has been established since 1986, its main job being the successful implementation of different vaccines. The court has also given many awards to parents who have managed to cure their child, whether by vaccinations or neurologically. Meanwhile, The Supreme Court agreed to hear an appeal from a Pittsburgh couple that wanted to sue vaccine manufacturer Wyeth. The reason being their daughter who suffered several seizures after being vaccinated.
