Santonio Holmes Picked in the 5th Round by Jets
Steelers' receiver Santonio Holmes has been picked up by The Jets who already made it to the A.F.C. Champions game last season. In exchange of Holmes, the Steelers have received the Jets’ fifth round pick.
It may be worthwhile to note that Holmes is facing a lawsuit in Florida for allegedly throwing a glass at a woman’s face.
Earlier, in 2008 he was charged for Marijuana possession while recent reports suggest that he could face a four match ban for his misdemeanor and substance abuse. If he is suspended then he would not be able to play for the first month of the regular season and that could the reason why he has come at an unusually low compensation.
Steelers will come to know on Monday the result of Ben Roethlisberger's charges of sexual assault and along with Holmes' case has created a problem for Steeler's management. Holmes's misdemeanor along with an off season for the team has tested coach Rex Ryan's faith that they can handle the most difficult of situations. Braylon Edwards is already faces disciplinary charges as well in addition to Antonio Cromartie who is facing multiple paternity charges.
Running back LaDainian Tomlinson and linebacker Jason Taylorhave also been added for a run up to the Super Bowl. Holmes' back of the end zone touchdown has a hallmark of his play in 2009 and that should be the boost that the Jets are looking for in their campaign. His record of 79 passes for 1248 yards and 5 touchdowns speak volumes of his ability as well.
