Samsung Unveils i9000 Galaxy S Phone at CITA
Samsung has unveiled the most powerful Android smartphone to date at the CITA Wireless Expo 2010.
Named i9000 Galaxy S, it is an improvement over the i7500 Galaxy. It is not surprising that the best has come from the kitty of a company that has itself produced several high-end devices, among which i8510 and Omnia HD stand tall.
Samsung i9000 Galaxy S is a phone that can explicitly challenge the likes of the Motorola Droid and the Nexus One. The i9000 boasts a 4-inch Super AMOLED display screen, 5 mega pixel camera, Bluetooth 3.0, and Wi-Fi B/G/N, making it the company’s biggest touchscreen phone to date. The screen also boasts the Digital Natural Imagine engine (mDNIe), which is known to make the images better. The smartphone will run Android 2.1 and be powered by Snapdragon, a "1 Ghz" processor.
Samsung Galaxy S supports HD video playback and several other video formats. "Social Hub" by Samsung is a platform to enter various social networking sites. The Swype virtual QWERTY and Thinkfree, a software for opening and editing Microsoft Office 2007 documents, have also found their place in the i9000 Galaxy. It will also sport Smart Life, the company’s user interface for Twitter. Along with Skiff, Samsung will provide "rich augmented reality content" from various magazines and publications.
Samsung Galaxy S also boasts of features like Daily Briefing. You can customize news, weather reports, and many pieces of important information.
You still have to wait for the Galaxy S to flood the markets. It will be available in Summer 2010. However, Samsung has not spoken a word on the cost of i9000 Galaxy, which will come in two models - 8GB and 16GB.
