Republicans now believe that they have a good chance of defeating 3 times Democratic US senator Barbara Boxer on the issue of controversial Gay marriage and anti-abortion issue. The 3 GOP candidates were in full mood to turn on the party’s conservative base.
Republicans know that most of California thinks of bigger national issues like health care bill, high unemployment and national debt to name a few. But, they also that when the time will come for the elections the Democrats will use wedge-issue politics to move the votes in favor of Senator Barbara Boxer.
In the Californian Republican Party convention center Carly Fiona avoided talks on Gay Marriage and just hinted at her anti-abortion stance. Other Republican mates like Tom Campbell felt that he didn’t feel like supporting of abortion or the gay rights activism is of much interest to the core national issues.
"The reality is that most Californians are not single-issue voters," Fiorina said, answering a question about her abortion stance. "Most Californians, most women, are worried about health care. They're worried about education. They're worried about their jobs. "They're worried about out-of-control federal spending.
So while we may not agree on everything, I think we really agree on the important issues that are on the table in this election." She adds. The exit poll by the Public Policy Institute of California in January stated that Senator Boxer held an advantage, which was between the ranges from 4 percent to a high of 17 percentage points in head-to-head clash against Republican challengers. However, even Boxer agrees its not going to be easy this time around.
