If Bloomberg news is to be believed then the Palm is up for sale. Palm, who is the maker of Pixi and Pre phones is looking for buyers where they are open to selling Palm’s WebOS.
Interestingly, the WebOS is a promising operating system which unfortunately did not go well with the buyers.
The company’s not so impressive performance in the recent past might be one of the reasons for its decision to sell. However, whether selling the palm with the WebOS is a good idea or not could can only be debated at the moment with its pros and cons and whether it will improve the fortunes of the company can be only told with certainty after a while. Incidentally, Palm is only the third company after Google and Apple to have a modern operating system in the smart phones market.
The other point that also needs to be considered is that you are the possible contenders for the Palm with the WebOS which if used properly can be match winner. In the interim sources have said that the Palm is working with Goldman Sachs and Frank Quattrone’s Qatalyst Partners to find a suitable buyer. The top contenders at the moment seem to be HTC which seems to be looking to strengthen its market and free itself from Google’s Android powered phones through the WebOS.
Other than that it is rumored that Dell, Nokia, Microsoft, Motorola, and even Nintendo are also considering to make an offer to buy the Palm. Out of these Motorola has made a successful entry to the smart phones market last year while HTC, Nokia etc are already some of the existing players.
On the other hand Lenovo looks to be a closer match in terms of product compatibility for Palm.
