Palestinian protesters clash with Israeli soldiers in Hebron
It happened once again as angry Palestinian protesters clashed with Israeli Police in Hebron a small town of the West Bank.
First the Palestinian protesters threw rocks and stones at the soldiers who fired tear gas shells and the whole smoke engulfed the whole area. Afterwards, soldiers patrolled the streets of Hebron as they anticipated another attack.
During the skirmish, Israeli soldiers hid behind their military vehicles to avoid being stoned. Meanwhile, Israeli authorities had to face further violence. There was increased security presence in the al-Aqsa mosque and access to the mosque was restricted keeping in mind the clashes.
The Al-Aqsa mosque is a holy place and place of worship for both Muslims and Jews and this is the second time in two weeks that access to the mosque has to be restricted by the authorities. It is the holiest site for Judaism and is commonly called by the Jews as Temple Mount. Meanwhile, militants also fired another rocket in Israel from the Gaza strip, although it landed on a field and so no casualty was heard of.
Earlier, on Thursday, Israel had started air strikes on the Gaza Strip targeting several areas. This was a reply to the rocket that was fired from the Palestinian territory which killed a farm worker in Israel.
Meanwhile, two people were injured when the strikes carried on by Israel near the Gaza-Egypt border. The Israeli military didn’t wish to comment.
The officialdom of Israel has taken a vow to retaliate for the deadly rocket attack, which Ansar al-Sunna an al-Qaida-inspired outfit has allegedly carried out. This was supposedly done in opposition of the "Zionist aggression" which the terrorists believe that they must do to stop oppression against their own people in Jerusalem and also attacks on Islamic holy sites.
