Nokia Announces Next Generation Smartphone N8
Finland-based cellphone-maker Nokia today officially announced its next generation Symbian smartphone - the N8.
The specifications of the phone was leaked just a day ago and the first review of the phone was published yesterday.
The N8 will have a 12 megapixel camera, complete with Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash and a large sensor that is found in digital cameras. The N8 will also support HD Video recording, first Nokia cellphone to support this format. It also has a built-in video editing suite, Dolby Digital Plus surround sound, which could be connected to the home theatre system. The phone will come with 16GB of in-built storage space, expandable up to 48GB.
The N8 runs Symbian ^3, the latest version of the Symbian OS. Symbian^3 supports multitouch, flick scrolling and pinch-zoom. Symbian^3 will also improve the memory management of the phone, allowing the users to run more than one application at a time at a good speed.
The N8 is very handy for people, who are hooked to social networking. The N8 users will be able to update their status, share location and photos, and view live feeds from networking site like Facebook and Twitter directly on the home screen.
The screen of the phone is of 3.5-inch, with a 360x640 resolution, which is little less in comparison to other Android based devices. The screen, however, has AMOLED display, which will make the resolution very clear.
