Actress Nicollette Sheridan has alleged "Desperate Housewives" producer and writer Marc Cherry physically assaulted her during a rehearsal and when she reported the assault to the network, he killed off her character in the show. Sheridan is suing Marc Cherry for this.
Nicollette Sheridan filed the suit on Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court claiming that Marc Cherry was dismissive and demeaning to her during filming of the series. She also claims in the suit that Cherry "took her aside and forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head" in September 2008 during rehearsal when she asked him something about the script.
In retaliation to her reporting the assault to ABC, her character in the series was killed off and she was fires despite her character's popularity. She has claimed damages of more than $20 million and named ABC and Touchstone Television Productions also as defendants in the suit.
ABC studios spokeswoman responded saying, "While we have yet to see the actual complaint, we investigated similar claims made by Ms. Sheridan last year and found them to be without merit."
Sheridan has also mentioned in the suit that Marc Cherry has been abusive and hostile towards other actors in the series too. When Teri Hatcher talked to ABC executives about it, Cherry told Sheridan, "I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies," says the suit.
