Lawyer Passes Off Lacrosse Player Yeardley Love's Murder As Accident
George Huguely, a 22 year old charged with the murder of lacrosse player Yeardley Love was produced in front of a judge in Charlottesville for the first time since the news of the player’s murder broke out.
George’s lawyer did not request for a bail. However, Defense Attorney Francis Lawrence said, "We are confident that Ms. Love's death was not intended but an accident with a tragic outcome," Love and Huguely used to play for their respective lacrosse teams.
Investigators have shared that their investigations with the local police. The police were first called in when Love’s friend felt that she was unconscious and hence needed medical attention.
Police Chief Tim Longo said, [Love] suffered visible physical trauma. However, the specific cause of death is undetermined pending an autopsy. University President said John Casteen said, "That she appears now to have been murdered by another student compounds this sense of loss by suggesting that Yeardley died without comfort or consolation from those closest to her. We know no explanation of what appears now to have happened."
Meanwhile a family statement released says, "Grief has descended on this community as we attempt to understand what happened and why," the statement said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with those who grieve this terrible loss."
