Internet Explorer 9: What’s in store?
What has Internet Explorer 9 in store for its customers? Well, that is the big question that everyone is asking. And, adding to the hype Microsoft has released the “Platform Preview” of the Internet Explorer 9.
The new version is not an IE9 beta and it doesn’t posses the usual features of a browser. What’s more it does not have an address bar. Well, actually the IE9 platform preview is an application which helps you in some Web Technologies and other standards that Microsoft is working on to build up its flagship. Internet Explorer’s reach is so huge that many websites actually display this message “This website is best viewed in Internet Explorer” And, if you try to open it with Firefox, Chrome, Opera or Safari you may run into some technical problem.
This explains the fact that some websites run the best in a particular Web Browser. Some browsers do help in getting the customers the latest web technologies like the HTML 5. Quite naturally the results are better. It is a better experience for everyone, no matter what Operating System you are using. The Web Browser definitely matters.
Well, Internet Explore also has got its fair share of criticism in the past. It is tepid as far as Web Standards are concerned. However, with the Internet Explore 9, Microsoft is putting up a challenge that this time around the IE 9 is going to better supported with the latest Web Technologies. The IE 9 Platform Preview provides the HTML 5 support, CSS 3 support (CSS is a technology that makes it easier for designers to specify how they want their sites to look) and an upgraded Java Script Engine for better performance of the Web Applications.
IE 9 is also going to provide hardware support for better performance of the Graphics on a website. However, Microsoft has not mentioned whether GPU’s will be supported, but we are assuming that they are going to give an updated variety of Graphics card. It is also been said that they are going to provide a built-in support for H.264 video playback using HTML5. Now things such as You Tube videos can be watched in a better resolution screen.
Microsoft has provided options for IE 9 Test designer site so that customers can be satisfied first and then delve into the project. Other things include the T-shirt designer, animation game demos and other classic gaming applications like the Asteroids. These demos will now be used on Java Script and HTML 5 instead of the usual Flash.
The IE 9 Platform Review can be downloaded for free from Microsoft’s website and since it is not complete yet it will not replace your current version of Internet Explorer.
