Having created their own name in the market of wireless carriers Sprint is now going to have an association with Google. Yes, soon the Overland Park wireless carrier is going to sell Google’s Nexus One phone, which is one of the fastest of smart phones.
However, the company hasn’t decided on the price range of the smart phone. Meanwhile, Google which created a rage by having the Android operating system for its smart phones went a bit further when they recently showcased the Nexus One. Nexus One is one of its kind having a touch screen similar to that of the iPhone. However, on this issue Apple is planning to sue Nexus One manufacturer HTC as it has created a controversy as far as patents are concerned.
The other facet of the Nexus One is Google’s applications like the Gmail which one can easily access. Earlier, the Nexus One was compatible only with the T-Mobile network but now Google has been selling the phone on GSM directly to the customers and now they don’t have to get pre-associated with any particular cellular network. The biggest advantage of this alliance between Google and Sprint is that it gives the wireless carrier a foothold in the largest Internet search engine which means more customers will be attracted to it.
“Nexus One is a powerful device that belongs on a powerful network. This is another step in our continued partnership of innovation with Google,” Fared Adib, Sprint vice president of product development, said in a news release.
If you buy the Samsung Moment or the HTC Hero, Sprint customers will get the Google Android operating system along with it. The Nexus One is going to have the 3G advantage. According to the Wall Street Journal, Sprint’s new phone is going to be the Supersonic which will be added with the 4G network. That will give it an advantage as data can now move 10 times faster than a 3G system. However, Sprint has declined to give any reaction to the proposed 4G phone.
