Google TV Likely To Be Released In May
Are you waiting eagerly to own a Google TV? Your wait might end soon as the company is planning to launch Google TV in May if media reports are to be believed.
Many reports say that the California-based company might release its Web-meets-television software at the Google I/O conference, scheduled to take place in San Francisco on May 19-20.
Google TV will operate on Android and it will bring Internet-style content, like Web search, apps, and video entertainment, to your tv. It is expected that the new software might come in-built in modern Internet-ready TVs, game consoles, set-top boxes, and Blu-ray players.
Some analysts are of the opinion that it could fail to make a mark in the market like Google Wave and other Google science projects. But, if Google TV would succeed in achieving its objectives, then it would change the TV into a giant Web terminal.
The company will generate good revenue from the product because it will help them present Google's web-based ads to a larger audience, while the consumers it will be a welcome relief from the good old traditional cable/satellite bundle. It is believed that Google might enter into a partnership with Intel, Sony, and Logitech to make this initiative a success.
Meanwhile, reports also say that Google has inked a deal with Japanese technology giant Sony Corporation to launch the Google TV next month. Intel will provide the chips. But, we have to wait for Google's official announcement over the whole thing.
Till then, we can rejoice over the fact that very soon we will have another wonderful device at our disposal.
