Hampshire police today confirmed that they have found bodies of four people, including girls aged one and two, at a house in Hampshire. The ambulance service said that the girls and a woman had been stabbed, while the man’s body was found hanging on the stairway.
Neighbor Alayna Brooks said she heard the scream of the children's grandmother at the house in Provost Street, Fordingbridge. Brooks added that rushed towards the house immediately and found the family dead. Brooks described the family as "gorgeous" and that "everyone loved them". "I loved them. As neighbors, we knew each other really, really well. I am appalled, upset," said Brooks adding that the family was not facing any financial worries.
Eyewitnesses said police cars and ambulances had arrived at the scene. "I've had people coming in talking about it but no-one knows much details about it yet. Fordingbridge is just a quiet rural town so this is a big shock for everyone to hear that bodies have been found," said Adam Crew, from the Ship Inn pub.
Meanwhile, acting Supt Gary Cooper did not confirm that bodies were found by the children's grandmother. "We believe it was a relative who came to the address this morning. On entering the address, they found four people dead," said Cooper. "It is a very unusual occurrence but something we are investigating with scenes of crime officers and the major crime branch," added Cooper. The mayor of Fordingbridge, Malcolm Connolly, described the incident as a tragic incident.
