The lightsabers have been turned off, the Lara Croft gear has been neatly wrapped up and the Galactus figurines have been stowed until next year. Comic Con 2010 has finally come to an end, and the countdown for the next year’s edition has already begun. The mega even gave us an opportunity to have glimpses of some of the most anticipated movies, ranging from from Marvel productions like "Thor" and "The Avengers" to Disney's "Tron Legacy," the 3-D resurrection of the sci-fi classic. Here’s a look at the five biggest newsmakers of this year’s Con.
"World War Z" To Feature Brad Pitt
The festival kick started with a massive news that Brad Pitt is officially set to star in "World War Z," an adaptation of Max Brooks' novel about a zombie apocalypse. It was rumored that Pitt wanted to play the lead role after he won a bidding war for the book rights in 2007. Brooks confirmed the news when the MTV caught up with him on the Con floor.
"The Avengers" Cast Unites
Things had got murkier when the studio announced re-cast the role of Hulk for his the next superhero edition The Avengers. But dust seemed to be settled down when Avengers" cast — including Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye — was introduced to an ecstatic crowd. The other folks up on stage included Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Clark Gregg (S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Sam Jackson (Nick Fury) and "Avengers" director Joss Whedon.
"Thor" And "Captain America" Trailers
Saturday was certainly a crucial day for Marvel. After Avenger cast reunion news, the studio released trailers of its two beloved comic book icons. First came "Captain America: The First Avenger" which will feature Chris Evans as the titular hero. That followed the footage of Chris Hemsworth bashing his enemies in "Thor."
"Green Lantern" Footage Debuts
While everyone talked about Thor footages, DC Comics' "Green Lantern” soon made its place to the headlines. Ryan Reynolds appeared at the San Diego Convention Center to debut his movie promos. The footage included t Reynolds in his Lantern suit and Peter Sarsgaard as the villainous Hector Hammond.
A New "Tron Legacy" Trailer
Disney was not far away from rivals, as it released trailers of Tron Legacy. The flick has an "Avatar"-like air to it at this point. The trailer was loaded with , super-cool special effects and an extended look at Jeff Bridges, who seems to have been given a "Benjamin Button"-esque makeover, so that he looks at least 30 years younger.
