David Paterson tries to spin the Abuse scandal
David Paterson insists that Marissa Shorenstein's resignation does not represent a larger problem within his administration.
Is David Paterson for real? In his appearance on "The John Gambling Show", Governor David Paterson, did supplement the fact that it was he who had tipped of the media that his top aide David Johnson was behind the alleged domestic violence against Sherra-una Booker the woman who filed a complaint against Johnson. "I don't want to go into it but the person who informed others that there was such a conversation was me," Paterson said.
Even Gambling was surprised and wanted to confirm whether the Governor had told the news media. Paterson said that it is correct.
"That's all I'm going to say about it," Paterson said. "It's not my surmise. It's an actual fact. But the individual who first made it clear that there had been a conversation was myself."
However, on the issue of the resignation by his acting communications director, Marissa Shorenstein to resign he said resignation is not the answer to the flaws that remain in the administration.
"Marissa Shorenstein is someone I've known for a number of years, someone I consider a friend outside of government and the problem right now is that both of us are being questioned by an investigation and we are not supposed to talk to each other," Paterson said.
"So it is very hard to have a communications director when you can't communicate with them."
Shorenstein, was the go to person for Paterson and it was she who contacted the media after being instructed by Paterson. Meanwhile, Shorenstein, admitted that she was duped into calling the media by Paterson. Paterson's action has instigated a huge scandal and it has led to calls from many quarters for him to resign.
The governor however has no remorse and justified his action. His comments on Booker and Shorenstein did come in a town hall meeting which first had discussions on a wide range of issues.
