Samantha Geimer, the 13-year-old girl, who had alleged that well-known director Roman Polanski had seduced her after giving her drugs, has lost a legal bid to get the case against the noted director quashed.
Geimer is 46 years old now. In her plea, Geimer argued that the continuation of the case was not doing any good to her and in fact it was causing her harm. Earlier,Geimer had said that she had forgiven Polanski and asked the court to drop the case. But a California court rebuffed Geimer's petition without saying anything.
In 1977, Polanski invited Geimer to the home of famous Hollywood actor Jack Nicholson and the actor was not present in the home at that time. When Geimer arrived in the house, Polanski gave her drugs and alcohol and asked her to join him in a hot tub, where he started kissing her. When Geimer went to the bedroom, the director followed her and seduced her.
A year later, charges were filed against the director on six felony counts, including rape, child molesting and sodomy. Polanski pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse, but he fled the country, when the judge was all set to announce a verdict on the case. After escaping from the US, Polanski came to France, which has refused to extradite him.
But he was arrested by Swiss authorities last year when he arrived in Switzerland. Polanksi was seized on the outstanding U.S. warrant for his arrest. Polanksi has been under house arrest at his chalet in the Swiss resort of Gstaad since his arrest.
