Connecticut Wins NCAA Women's Basketball Championship 2010
Apart from the Men’s Championship, NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship 2010 has turned out be more interesting.
In the finals the Stanford Cardinals take on the Connecticut Huskies. The final has been won by the Connecticut Huskies with scores of 53-47.
In the first round of the match, it was Stanford who took a lead with a score of 20-12. By the time the clock showed 13.35 both the teams had reached a tie. Though Stanford was able to break this tie when Jeanette Pohlen made a two-point jumper, which was backed by Kayla Pedersen. But the second round saw a dramatic change and Connecticut took revenge and was leading the game.
The Huskies' Kalana Greene and Maya Moore outperformed in the second round. They played an important role in taking lead over Stanford by taking the scores to 22-25 just before the first 20 second timeout was announced for the Cardinals.
During the next two 20-second timeouts called for Stanford saw that the game had totally changed and Connecticut had scored a huge lead with the scores of 34-47. The Huskies were able to carry on this huge lead till the last minute of the second round of the game thus closing it at scores of 53-47 and with which Connecticut was declared winner of the 2010 NCAA National Championship for the Women’s Basketball Tournament Division.
