Clash of the Titans Rules the Weekend Box Office in US
Box Office Report: On its opening weekend on the box office, "Clash of the Titans" ruled it with $61.4m earnings in North America.
Clash of the Titans 3D movie starring Sam Worthington of "Avatar" fame, is a remake of 1981 film starring Laurence Olivier and Maggie Smith.
The second spot at the box office goes to Tyler Perry sequel "Why Did I Get Married Too?" The movie took home $30.2m in earnings.
Last week's number one "How to Train Your Dragon" has been pushed to number 3 taking $29.2m in earnings.
Number 4 spot went to teen drama opening of "The Last Song", starring Miley Cyrus, with $16.2m.
Once at number one "Alice in Wonderland" also in 3D took 5th spot with $8.3m.
Coming back to box office topper this weekend "Clash of the Titans", the film is based on the Greek myth of Perseus. The movie also stars Liam Neeson, Gemma Arterton and Pete Postlethwaite.
Sam Worthington spoke about the movie as a "fun, boisterous popcorn movie", reports BBC.
Sam adds, "We're under no illusions, it's not a history lesson,"
"It's a guy on a winged horse in a skirt with rubber swords battling monsters, and I think 3D can kind of help you.
"It can bring you in there. You should come out, throw your glasses off and realise that this is a hoot - it's a rollercoaster."
