Charlie Sheen Pleads Not Guilty, Soon Returning to TV Show
"Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen has pleaded not guilty to charges of domestic violence at a Colorado court. He will stand trial on 21 July.
On Christmas day, the 44-year-old actor was arrested while holidaying in Aspen, Colorado, when his wife Brooke Mueller complained of “violence” on the actor’s part, saying that “he put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.” At that time, his arrest warrant affidavit mentions that Sheen denied the allegations, saying that his wife and he just “slapped” each other on the arms. The affidavit also mentioned that he agreed having broken her two pairs of glasses.
The actor has been accused of menacing, criminal mischief, and assault. However, amid this controversy, lawyers for both parties called for reconciliation, saying that the couple, who have twin sons from the marriage, wanted to reunite. In this regard, a judge accepted to change a restraining order that called for keeping the couple at a distance from each other.
"Charlie is looking forward to the opportunity to clear his name, putting all of this behind him and spending time with his kids during his hiatus." Sheen's agent Stan Rosenfield said.
The actor, who was charged under his legal name Carlos Estevez, was named the country’s highest paid television actor in 2008.
Media reports also point out that the actor is returning to "Two and a Half Men" on Tuesday.
