Former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood has entered record books after becoming the first female artist to win entertainer of the year award at the Academy of Country Music Awards twice.

The 27-year-old singer had won the award last year also.  Underwood also won a special triple crown prize, which includes award for the female vocalist, entertainer of the year and newcomer prizes.

Trio Lady Antebellum returned home with five awards, while Taylor Swift, who was nominated in five categories, returned empty-handed.

Underwood was nominated with Swift, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley, in the entertainer of the year category.  "I think I just got make-up all over Brad Paisley. Thank you God. Praise the Lord,” said Underwood in her acceptance speech.

Lady Antebellum won award for best vocal group, ending Rascal Flatts' seven-year dominance in this category. Singer Miranda Lambert won three glittering awards, including the prestigious best female vocalist trophy.
