Canadiens Secure Shock Victory Over Pittsburgh Penguins
In a thrilling encounter, the Canadiens secured a 4-3 Game 6 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins yesterday to stave off elimination for the fourth time this post season.
The Game 7 will be played tomorrow in Pittsburgh.
“It will be a huge challenge against the Stanley Cup champions, but we’ll be ready,” Montreal Coach Jacques Martin said.
Mike Cammalleri led the Canadiens with two goals. Cammalleri is the top goal scorer in the playoffs.
Jaroslav Spacek, who returned to play yesterday after remaining out of action in the last nine games, scored the go-ahead goal. Maxim Lapierre netted the winner.
The result shocked everyone because the Penguins are a very strong outfit and they are seeking their sixth straight series win.
But no sooner the game began yesterday Canadiens looked determined to win the match. They rallied from a 2-1 second-period deficit against the Penguins to maintain the momentum and upset the defending Cup champions.
