Bret Michaels Hospitalized, In ICU After Brain Bleed
The former "Poison" frontman Bret Michaels is in a critical condition suffering from a brain hemorrhage, according to his publicist.
Joann Mignano, the New York-based publicist of glam-rock reality TV star, announced that Michaels was admitted in the hospital after a severe headache. He was admitted to the intensive care unit, where the doctors discovered bleeding at the base of his brain stem.
Mignano confirmed that tests are being conducted but did not reveal the name of the hospital. Earlier last week, the 47-year-old star had an emergency appendectomy at a private care facility for diabetics. Michaels, who was scheduled to perform at Sea World in San Antonio, Texas, wrote on his website that the surgery "has taken its toll," but the doctors are optimistic that he would recover fully.
Michaels is currently a contestant in NBC competitive reality show, "The Celebrity Apprentice." For the first six episodes on the third season of Donald Trump's show, Michaels served as a lighting rod for the show's male team. Trump has expressed disappointment over Michaels' condition saying, "He's a great competitor and champion, and I hope he will be fine."
Before appearing on the NBC's show, Michaels had participated in VH1's reality show, "Rock of Love" from 2007 to 2009. For three seasons, Michaels was also the judge on the fifth season of the USA singing competition "Nashville Star" in 2007.
