Boston Celtics Defeat Cleveland Cavaliers In Game 2 To Level Series
In a thrilling encounter, Boston Celtics defeated Cleveland Cavaliers 104-86 in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series at Quicken Loans Arena yesterday.
Boston dominated the match from the beginning and outperformed Cavaliers in all department of the game to tie the Eastern Conference semifinal series at a game apiece. The Game 3 will be played in Boston, where the Celtics have lost just four of their 25 postseason games.
Talking to reporters, after the match, a visibly upset Cleveland coach Mike Brown said, "Tonight was real simple - they kicked our behind from the beginning. And we did not fight back until late. We've got to decide that we're going to take the fight to them and take these games. Nothing is going to be given to us at all."
In the Game 1, Cleveland had mounted a superb comeback to win that match but yesterday Boston did not give any chance to them to launch a comeback. Boston followed a superb strategy, limiting Cleveland to one shot per possession. Ray Allen top scored for Celtics with 22 points, point guard Rajon Rondo ended with 19 assists, Kevin Garnett contributed 18 and Rasheed Wallace added 17 points.
"I give credit to my teammates, they made shots. I tried to give them easy looks. We mixed it up offensively inside and out," said Rondo. Cleveland's star LeBron James looked slightly off color yesterday though he ended with a team-high 24 points. "We know we didn't play well, that third quarter definitely was one of the worst quarters we had this year, offensively and defensively. But you look at it, at the end of the day, the series is tied 1-1. These are two really good teams, and we're looking forward to Game 3," said James.
