The American Idol 2010 winner Lee DeWyze has already signed up a record deal with 19 Recordings Limited and RCS Records. At the same time runner up Crystal Bowersox singed a deal with 19 Recordings Limited and Jive for her debut major label album.
Billboard.com has announced that the deals were signed on Thursday. DeWyze will join the brand that houses idols like Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert. On the other hand Bowersox will be in the same league as the likes of Kris Allen, Jordin Sparks and Allison Iraheta.
The finalists of last two years Allen and Lambert got their albums debuting only in late November. So it can be safely assumed that both the finalists of this year will also aim for the same time table in order to capitalize on the memory of the finale. DeWyze has released two independent CDs, including January’s Slumberland.
The debut singles for both of them have already serviced to radio and iTunes on Thursday. Lee’s cover of U2 “Beautiful Day” and Crystal’s “Up to the Mountain” had already gotten a n umber of spins, reports Billboard.com.
134,000 of Allen’s “No Boundaries” were sodl through downloads in a week while Lambert’s cover of “Mad World” sold 115,000 copies. There could be less interest in DeWyze and Bowersox than previous winners, unnamed sources said. The ratings of this year’s ‘Idol’ were down 9%.
