Barnes & Noble, HP Team Up For A Co Branded eBookstore hp.bn.com
Computer giant HP and Barnes & Noble Inc have teamed up to launch a co branded ebookstore at hp.bn.com.
A link to the store will be provided by HP on all its new computers and it also plans to preload Barnes & Noble’s reading applications on devices in future.
In the Internet Retailer top 500 Guide, HP is ranked 17 and Barnes & Noble is ranked 42. The financial aspect of the deal was not disclosed by any of the companies.
Kevin Frain, Executive Vice President of E commerce for Barnes & Noble said, “We expect that there is going to be a lot of digital reading that is consumed on devices that aren’t specifically targeted to e-reading, such as laptops and netbooks,”
HP’s companywide branding is reflected in the bookstores though the e commerce platform of the bookstore is from Barnes & Noble. The books that are available from BN.com are currently highlighted in the site. Customers can make use of the LendME technology that will allow them to share the ebooks with friends for free for a period of 14 days.
Customers will remember that about a month ago Bst Buy Co. had firmed up an agreement with Barnes & Noble to carry the booksellers’ Nook e-reader.
Frain says that the sign up is one of the several efforts that Barnes & Noble plans to promote its e-reader application.
