US President Barack Obama has reached Afghanistan. This is his first visit to the country after becoming the President of U.S.

Media reports say that the president is expected to have meetings with Afghan President Hamid Karzai as well as the Afghan cabinet and US officials.

Mr. President is to address American forces also which are stationed in Afghanistan.

To recapture, in December President Obama  had instructed the deployment of 30,000 US troops to Afghanistan and had set the troop withdrawal date in mid-2011.

As per a report by the Associated Press, the President's visit to Afghanistan was kept a secret for security reasons. Even Afghan President was informed one hour ahead of Mr. Obama reaching there.

Earlier Obama visited Afghanistan in 2008 during his 2008 presidential election campaign.

It might be remembered that during 2009 the relations between US and Afghanistan were not very good over the issue of disputed Afghan elections.
