Adobe Plans to Bounce Back with Creative Suite 5

Adobe is launching an upgraded version of its creative tools software on Monday in the middle of a ugly battle with Apple.

The company is depending heavily on its new creative Suite 5 product family to maintains its competitive position in the world of web designing, video and photo editing with its improved features on interactivity and performance. The new product supports the upcoming Flash 10.1, Adobe AIR2 which are designed to support higher performance in the mobile software segment.

This is in direct contradiction to Apple restriction on use of flash in its iPhones and iPads. Adobe has responded to this restriction by developing features that allow Flash applications to be exported as native iPhone applications.

It is important to note that creative suites account for a majority of Adobe’s revenues which fell by 18% last year and hence adobe is hoping that the new release will bring about a turnaround in its fortunes.

Their last update of CS4 happened just ahead of the slowdown of the economy and hence they are hoping to make use of the pent up demand for fresh upgrades.

Adobe new release includes 15 product points like Photpshop CS5, Illustrator CS5, Acrobat 9Pro, Dreamweaver CS5, and Flash professional CS5. The high point of this upgrade is the 64-bit support to help in creation of high resolution projects. The prices are expected to range between $1299 to $2599.

Interestingly, Adobe is introducing online online services to accelerate  creative workflow. Adobe CS Live, which is available on a limited free trial, includes a tool for testing website content across different browsers and operating systems, called Adobe BrowserLab, as well as tools for online design review and collaboration.
