Redstone Arsenal officials today have announced that two people have been injured in an explosion on the Army base in north Alabama. Nobody has been killed.

Talking to AP, Deputy Public Affairs Officer Kimberly Henry said one of the injured was admitted to a Birmingham hospital and was being taken by helicopter to a Huntsville hospital. The explosion occurred in a building in the morning. The building handles aviation and missile testing.

Henry added that no one had died in the incident and all employees in the area are safe now. Earlier, a county official had reported that one person was killed in the explosion. The cause of the explosion is still unknown.

Redstone Arsenal employs 32,000 people on 38,000 acres at Huntsville. It is the center of Army missile and helicopter programs. The base is also used for the development and maintenance of the weapons systems for the Army.
