Congress To Push DREAM Act, Americans Want Focus On Tax Cuts

A Gallup poll released just before Thanksgiving has revealed that majority of Americans are sending the message to Congress that Representatives are not doing the right thing by planning to pass the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act before extending tax cuts passed under previous Republican government led by George W. Bush. The findings come at a crucial time as the House of Representatives is planning to vote on Act next week.



Rahm Emanuel's Residency May Hinder his Mayoral Candidature

Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel has been caught in a residence issue. Papers were filed by a veteran election attorney on Friday to disqualify Emanuel from contesting in the elections. He has filed charges that Emanuel does not meet city residency rules.



Sarah Palin not a possible contender for my job: Barack Obama

The speculation about the possible contenders for the job of American President is on a rise and most are ticking off Sarah Palin name from the list. Earlier, Sarah Palin said she's considering a 2012 run for the White House and is hopeful to beat President Barack Obama. Soon thereafter, Barbara Bush said she hopes Palin stay in Alaska amid growing concern among Democrats and some Republicans that Palin is unqualified for national office. Now, President Barack Obama in an interview said he doesn’t think Palin to be a possible contender for his job in 2012.



Republicans Win More House Seats; 2 Still Undecided

Incumbents are holding their breath, waiting for the election results around the country that could determine whether it will be the Democrats or the Republicans, who will have a better edge in the next Congress. Republicans have won the race in Texas and in the 25th District of New York.



Rep. Charles Rangel Apologizes Supporters For Ethics Shenanigans

Harlem Rep. Charlie Rangel yesterday offered up a formal mea culpa to his supporters following ethics shenanigans that have him facing a humiliating censure for 11 violations of House rules. "I apologize for the embarrassment I have brought upon you," Rangel told his fans in an email. Last Thursday, an ethics panel had recommended that Rangel should be censured for these violations.



Rand Paul to pen a Book on Tea Party

A Republican and a favorite of the Tea Party movement, Rand Paul will be penning a book, that is titled The Tea Party Goes to Washington. Center Street, his publishers said that the book is scheduled for publication in February, 2011.



Sarah Palin Gears Up To Embark On A Media Blitz

Former Republican vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is set to launch a media blitz this week that includes book release and appearance on TV. Palin is scheduled to watch her daughter, Bristol, compete in the finals of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," tonight. She will also appear on the next episode of her TLC reality TV show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska." Palin’s latest book, "America By Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag," hits bookstores tomorrow.

Democrats Differ With President Obama On Funding For Afghanistan war

The United States House of Representatives yesterday approved a bill providing $59 billion in additional funding for the country’s ongoing war efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq. The House vote was important as it showed that president Obama was losing popularity among the members of his own Democratic Party as 102 Democrats voted against the funding. Notably only 33 Democrats had voted against a similar funding bill in June 2009.



Sara Palin, Kate Gosselin And Family On 'Kate Plus 8’

If reports are to be believed, Sarah Palin will join Kate Gosselin and the eight kids camping in Alaska on popular TV show 'Kate Plus 8'. Kate and Sarah are coincidently were listed among Barbara Walters' ten most fascinating people of 2009. Palin’s appearance show will be airing on TLC. Senators divided on Kagan

Difference of opinions is likely to surface when Elen Kagan’s nomination to the US Supreme Court hits the Senate floors. Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan has hinted that she will extend her support to the president’s choice of the Solicitor General to serve on the nation’s highest court. “I do plan on supporting her,” said Hagan in a conference call with reporters on Wednesday.



Sherrod Fallout : Obama Seeks More Patience From Govt Heads

Taking serious note of forced ouster of Agriculture Department official Shirley Sherrod, President Obama has directed the officials concerned to be more patient and refrain from drawing quick conclusions. It’s learnt that Obama phoned Sherrod to regret over the entire row that has brought the government officers and Cabinet ministers under scanner. Obama also acknowledged that Sherrod’s racial remarks during her speech to an NAACP audience was misinterpreted by the media. He also said that Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack "jumped the gun" in sacking veteran Georgian federal worker.
